Sample Letter to MP

Dear ...

I support The 20 weeks Campaign. Please vote for amendments to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill to lower the upper limit for abortion for normal babies from 24 weeks to 20 weeks or below.

  • Over 3,000 babies are aborted between 20 and 24 weeks every year in Britain. Only one in five of these is abnormal.
  • 63% of MPs, two thirds of GPs, nearly two thirds of the public and more than three quarters of women support a reduction in the 24-week upper age limit.
  • Babies like Millie McDonagh, born at 22 weeks, now stand a good chance of survival if they receive good neonatal care.
  • Ultrasound images show babies smiling and sucking their thumbs at 20 weeks.
  • Babies are well enough developed to feel pain at 18 weeks.
  • Mothers first feel their babies kick at 16-18 weeks. My own vote at the next election will be influenced by how you vote so please let me know where you stand on this vital issue.

Yours sincerely,
